Advice

I seriously need some advice. We are going through some "growning pains" in our family and at this point I just don't know what to do. SO PLEASE.... leave me a comment on how you feel, or what you do, or your rules growing up.

So the story goes....

One of the very first days we moved in to this house I overheard the girls talking about this neighbor girl that was going to come over after school. I was like???????????? I did not know who they were talking about. They said she lived down the street. I guess they knew her from the first few days of school. She is a first grader. Several times over the next few months she came over and asked to play.
1. I didn't know her.
2. I didn't know her parents.
3. I was super prego.
4. I was not comfortable with the girls out front, and then having to keep track of Graden.
5. Her parents don't know me, or my husband, or my home. (We could be crazy). Shut it.
6. She is un-attended outside and has the run of the neighborhood. (I have seen her riding all around the block, sometimes with headphones in, totally unaware of her surroundings).

Come to find out she and her Dad our in our ward. I believe her mom is not a member. She is an only child. I feel as though I have been pressured to somewhat be-friend her by certain people at church. So I have. As the weather has gotten warmer and the kids want to be out front and riding bikes, drawing with chalk, just enjoying themselves, she has come by. I am always VERY nice to her. She has enjoyed the company of my kids, and they hers. The girls went to her birthday party in March. And I have let the girls play at her home (less than an hour tops). It has gone from once a week, to almost everyday RIGHT after school the doorbell rings. Or as soon as I drive up in our drive way, open the garage and unload everything.....RING! I feel as though we are being swooped down upon. I have told her that the kids cannot play. Sickness, Sunday, dinner time, bath time, you name it. But she just stands there and looks at me. Then I shut the door, while she is still standing there. I feel really bad, but totally annoyed at the lack of boundary she has. I truly do not know what to do next.

I have set rules for my girls. Helmets, sidewalk, no food, stay outside, etc....I had my sister Julie watch the kids for an hour or so yesterday. They were all playing outside. I told Julie the rules. She said she watched as she kept asking for the girls to go get a snack. (If she were actually hungry and I felt as though she was not eating, I would feed her). (Not the case). Julie finally said something, and then she whispered again. Julie told her to go home and eat. She came back with a cinnamon hard candy.

Did your mom ever tell you that "three's a company, but two is a crowd"? Well, when it's with twins, one of them is ALWAYS the "crowd". So when they play it's a lot of drama. I feel like a gerk, making the girls come in when I have finally heard enough. It seems like when they are all together the talk gets sassy. (mind you my girls ARE NOT ANGELS). But in know the difference.

Please help me. To tell you that I am heart broken about this is an understatement. I feel trapped in my home, unable to enjoy the front yard, without everybody else joining in.

What do you do? What are your rules? Should I talk to her parents? HELP??????

PS.....I put a note on our door that says, "sorry, no playing today" cause I just cannot handle it. And it's beautiful outside. Sigh.....

My Sharing Time

This is my month for sharing time. I was worried about today though. It was ward conference and I knew we would have Stake Presidency there. I also knew my time would be short. We are teaching the children about the Atonement of Christ. How He died so we could return to our Heavenly Father. I wanted the kids to know the love Heavenly Father has for them. I asked them how we could measure that. How do you measure infinity?

I brought a Pyrex pie dish from home and a couple of cups sugar. I pointed out to them that sugar is teeny tiny crystals. Then I poured the sugar into the bowl and asked one of the teachers to start counting the sugar crystals. And what do you know? They could not count them. There were too many to count. I wanted the kids to have a visual about INFINITE LOVE. I thought it went really well. I hope so.

"R" is for Reading!

I have not helped the girls with their homework for a while. G'ma Blue took that over while she was here, and I have not really gotten the December packets started. The girls BEG to do homework. It's not easy either. Mrs. T does not even give the girls the regular packet anymore (since October), they get the coveted "challenge" packet! Any who, I had them get it out today while I was stuck in the kitchen making some yummo chili. To my astonishment, THEY CAN READ????? When did I miss this? I cannot take credit whatsoever for this! My sister Jennifer was the gratest pre-school teacher of all time and had them so ready for kindergarten. So for it's all been a review for them. Mrs. T is great too. I was shocked to hear them sounding out the words and repeating them. We went to the library after naps and I let them get a ton of 1st reader books. They are proving to be more difficult than the homework, but I told them that practice makes.........you even better!
I am soooo glad my girls love school. By the second grade I hated it. Looking back, I know I had some learning struggles. My mom told me once that in the 4 th grade I got up and sharpened my pencil 22 times in one day. (The teacher told her this.) I guarantee it was because I did not understand the assignment and was killing time.
Keep it up girls! We are so proud of you!

From this......

FROM THIS........

My great friend Tiffany and I have been talking about doing applesauce forever~

She is such a trooper! She called today and had the "lab" (I referred to it as our meth lab the entire time) all set up. Here is the great part!!! I had NO JARS! But that is not the great part! I had coupons for KERR or BALL jars. Tiff said they were the cheapest at Winco so that is where we headed. I got four cases. 12 quart 12 half pint (for jam next year) and 24 wide mouth pints.
My kids slam applesauce so I knew this was a good one to do! Another great part????? The apples were F$R$E$E!!!! If you pick apples at the church orchards you can pick the ones up off the ground for free while you are there! So she got 6 boxes for nuthin'! We are going to back later in the week and pick more, then get our free ones off the ground!

I came home with 12 quarts of Jonathon Applesauce! Sweet! She is such a doll that she canned some other things for our family as well. 1 jam, 2 pears, and 5 salsa's or so! HECK YEAH!

I never thought that "canning" would interest me. I thought the old ladies in RS did it. Well, count me in the old lady club!

TO THIS.......

Thanks Tiffany! You know I love ya~

Extreme Diving....kinda....

The last day of swimming lessons! I caught Nat mid sneeze! Hahahahahahaha! So funny!

Graden went a few times to the lessons! He was rather bummed when he could not get in water! My friend Tiffany took him a few of the days! He loved that!

Taylor was rather fearless when it came to the diving board. She was more than excited! She got to jump twice on the last day! I am really proud of her!

Big jump!

Natalie took a little more persuasion. She did great the other day when they jumped but today she was bitten by the fear bug. After I had a chance to pull her aside and talk to her she got in line. I am so glad she did because lessons were almost over and she had not gone! I did not want this to be a regret of hers!
(She then let the little girl behind her go so this was not her big jump.....yet!)

Taylor again!!!

YEAH!!!! She finally jumped! I am so proud of her! It's all she talked about on the way home!

This is Zac Efron the girls swimming teacher! jk! He does look like him though! His real name is Collin. The girls called him "Coach Collin" all week! Holla!

Swimming fun~

These pictures were from our last ward party that we are going to "legally" attend for the Sunny Brook ward! It was the summer swimming party. It was probably 70' and windy but the kids HAD to get in the water! They really did have soooooo much fun! Graden was cold before he even got in so he sat out with dad and got warm. He dozed off a few times too!

The next pictures are from our 1st day of swim lessons. Meridian Public Pool offered a week free and we jumped on that chance! Graden can go next year so my good friend Tiffany watched him for today. He would have gone BONKERS if he could not get in too! The girls did great! They had friends from church in the class too! Lance and Paige!

Some little freak show got a hold of my camera. They may be identical twins and the pictures may be blurry, but I know who the bandit is.

NATALIE ELAINE BLUE I'M ONTO YOU!!!

Lovey Dovey

There are many words to describe the relationship Jason and I have. "Lovey Dovey" is not one of them. We have from the beginning been the couple that jokes and teases. I think that often times when people meet us they think we don't like each other. One could say that sarcasm is our "love language".

Jason and I have been through much in our 7 years of marriage. But I must say that in the last week I have fallen in love with him all over again. He has stood beside me, strengthened me, supported me, held me, helped me back up, caught me, guided me, advised me, loved me and most of all been my eternal companion.

There is a long story as to what we have been through that is not worth repeating, but all in all it pushed me mentally, physically and emotionally to the outer limits. I have faith, and I know that the Lord was hand in hand with me. But knowing that my husband was there too, made the situation have a silver lining. I think that sometimes we have stressful things happen and we blow up at our spouses instead of taking the issue head on together.

I am not secretly blogging about the love I have for him. I have told him how much I love him and how thankful I am for all that he does for myself, and the kids. I just wanted you to know. That I do "lovey dovey" him xoxo
