Horrible horrible horrible.
That is what my text said to Jason while I was still in the chair at the dentist. You see, I only have insurance for a few more days. So I decided to get some LONG overdue dental work done. I am one of those weirdos who never had wisdom teeth. Now don't get smart with me....I am FULL of wisdom. I also have some baby teeth in the back. Crazy I know. Well I had a filling fall out in a baby tooth about oh.........(cough)........nine years ago. The dentist I worked for put a temporary filling in it till I got braces........(cough).......that I never got. So I have had a gaping hole in there that has progressively gotten bigger and bigger. Maybe less that half of the tooth was there. I thought for sure it was going to just pop out. And that is what I was praying for!
"Pop! It's out Alli! You are the best patient I have EVER had!"
Ok, that is so not what happened! He did my fillings. DONE. EASY. Then he started working on my baby tooth. Tug, push, scrape, back and forth, tug, pull. Then the POP! Yeah!!! The pop! My prayers were answered! At this point I feel as though it is safe to open my eyes. WRONG!!!!!!!!!! I see the glimmer of very polished metal in the shape of a small machete. Alright, a scalpel. As my luck would have it, the tooth did pop. Only to have left the roots behind. Whhhhaaaaaaaaaaattttttt! I'm gonna spare you the details of what happened next for fear of you barfing all over your monitor. Yeah, I love you like that! I will however tell you that I am pretty sure the good doc got darn near close to scrambling my brain while searching for root fragments.
I was a brave and did not cry. I wanted to. I wanted to see Jason. His text back and it said "Sorry babe". That was good enough to get me home. My friend brought me a milkshake. Thanks Candace. Hours later I feel better. And tonight for family home evening..........

11 SAY WHAT??????????????????:
Ohhhh Man - Alli I am so sorry!! That sounds pretty icky!!!
We missed you today. We should have come visit you at the Dentist and told you jokes or something!!
Hope you are doing better and not in too much pain.
That sounds yuck-o! Hope you get feeling better! I love the FHE idea! Genious!
I think teeth issues are some of the worst things that can happen to you. In fact, when I am really stressed, I get weird teeth dreams - where my teeth are falling out. I cringed just reading your post. I am sorry.
I have bad teeth so I can sympathize with you! I go in tomorrow for a filling that fell out a while back...(cough)...3 years ago...the rest of the tooth fell out last week. I hope it isn't quite that bad! Dev had to get a baby tooth pulled at the same time. We'll be going out for milk shakes on the way home!!!
Ok. I need to go to the dentist, and you've inspired me to put it off until another day....cough. :) I hate the dentist!
Wow, has it really been 9 years since you worked for that dentist?? Time flies! And ouch, I am sorry you had to go through that. Sometimes I think the dentist is worse than child labor! Tooth pain is awful! Hope you got some good drugs out of it though... kidding, kidding (sort of!!) And I hope you are feeling much better today :)
I need to talk to JD about our girls trip but I think March would be best too!! I so hope that we can all get together, we would have a BLAST! Can't wait!
I hate going to the dentist! They stick large needles in your gums (and say we'll just feel a small prick.) HA! It freaking kills! And then they expect you to sit still, with your mouth wide open, while they put drills in your mouth and cause a fire! Sorry you had to go through that. I definitely feel your pain....I won't go into detail about the hack job a dentist did on my teeth a few years ago. My teeth STILL hurt from it. Make sure Jason gets you lots and lots of milkshakes :)
OH ouch! The Dentist will never be my friend, even if I do go see him every 6 months. Feel better soon!
Ouch! i'm so sorry! I hate having my teeth worked on! I have to go back in next month to fix a filing...
holy crow! I'm glad you survived! That was one scary horror story!!!
OH MAN....I SOOOO feel for you!!!!! I am a dentist phobe...everytime I have a baby...I go in after...and BOOM, the lucky number seems to be 13...!! GROWL!!! Oh, and it never fails that one or two of those are root canals...!! I have to have the nitrous otherwise I would hyperventilate in panick and fear...and at my last one, I asked them..."Cant you just put me down or something??" I was shocked when they said...actually ya, we could have, but you are already here, so lets work on ya...!! WHAT??!! You can bet I will be asking to be PUT OUT OF THIS WORLD next time...
You are a brave brave girl...
